Recently, Bill wrote, “What is EFT? I’ve heard a lot about it, but I don’t know what it looks or feels like.
EFT–also called Emotional Freedom Techniques– is what’s called an “energy psychology” whose premise is that our bodies have meridians through which energy flows. When we’re healthy emotionally and physically, the energy flows freely. When we’re ill or experiencing various forms of emotional pain or physical pain, something has short-circuited in the energy system. Asian medicine has realized this for thousands of years, and has pioneered the use of acupuncture for anesthesia and to heal a number of illnesses. When your energy system short-circuits, negative emotions result that can manifest as anxiety, fears, depression, PTSD symptoms, and so on. They can also manifest as pain, illnesses, addictions (which are actually attempts to tranquilize negative emotions), phobias, etc. You can see that, with all of this, you’re not free–you’ve got all these ways that you feel trapped or hurt or stuck. EFT Tapping often very quickly creates a sense of emotional freedom.
